University of South Wales

The University of South Wales, known as USW, is a modern and ambitious university that was established in 2013 after a merger between the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport – two institutions that date back more than 170 years.

USW puts great effort into preparing students for life after graduating. It offers a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, from Animation and Aeronautical Engineering to Wildlife Biology and Youth Work. Many courses have been accredited by professional bodies, and are taught in environments that recreate the workplace on campus.

The University has three campuses across the Cardiff Capital Region, in Pontypridd, Newport and Cardiff itself. All are within easy reach of city, countryside and coast, and there’s a range of accommodation both on and off campus.

The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama is part of the University of South Wales Group. Based in Cardiff, it provides specialist training in music and the dramatic arts for talented students from all over the world. As the national conservatoire of Wales, the Royal Welsh College plays a vital role in the nation’s cultural life.
