When Jeffrey moved to Wales in September 2020, during the height of a global pandemic, he was met by a supportive administration team who were always on hand to make Wales feel like home. He was offered rent-free accommodation to self-isolate in, free food and 24-hour access to a helpline.
Studying English Literature, Jeffrey has become the global ambassador for the international office for school, representing the United States. He believes that this experience will help him in his pursuit of a successful career, as his responsibilities range from liaising with international students via email to picking students up from the airport as well as hosting web seminars. His experience as an international ambassador has taught Jeffrey how to write for businesses and employ effective marketing techniques.
As well as having ample opportunities to gain global experience through the university, Jeffrey has enjoyed exploring the woods surrounding the campus and trekking to various beaches during downtime.
Nestled between Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains, Aberystwyth University campus is the perfect spot for beach goers and hikers alike. But it wasn’t just Aberystwyth’s location that attracted Jeffrey. With the university’s awards and acknowledgements for student satisfaction in the UK, Aberystwyth seemed like a great place to study.
And Aberystwyth hasn’t disappointed. Jeffrey describes Aberystwyth as a place that is judgement- free, where there is a zero-tolerance approach to bullying or discrimination and where the people of the idyllic seaside town are kind and welcoming.
Jeffrey believes that Wales is a wonderful place to live and study. Not only has the student support provided by Aberystwyth been fantastic, and the teaching standard excellent, but the Welsh people are very welcoming and friendly.
My favourite thing about studying in Aber is the people and the town. Aberystwyth is nothing short of idyllic, and everyone is so kind and welcoming!
