The Open University in Wales

The Open University in Wales (OU) is the UK’s largest University and a world leader in providing part-time, flexible distance learning. Every year we help thousands of ordinary people achieve extraordinary things.

About the University

The Open University in Wales has around 200,000 students studying with us directly or through our partners. 20,000 of these live outside the UK, studying more than 450 modules across a range of subject areas.

The Open University uses distance learning to offer flexible higher education to anyone who wants to benefit from it whether you live in the UK or elsewhere. This flexible approach suits the needs of individuals and employers and courses range from short online modules all the way through to the MBA and other master degrees.

The Open University Business School is the world’s largest MBA provider with triple accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA).

The Open University also offers a range of courses for free through our online learning platforms OpenLearn and OpenLearn Cymru (which offers free Welsh medium courses).

A vast majority of Open University students are in employment while they study with us and many are sponsored by their employer. Wherever you are in the world you may be able to study directly with the Open University or through one of our educational partners.
